What is the multiplex?
The concept behind Multimat.tv, explained.
In a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition such as the CFJJB French championship, several matches happen at the same time, on different mats. Following a single video feed inevitably means missing what's happening on the other mats. Multimat.tv's multiplex solves this: it displays every mat of a competition, live, side by side on a single screen.
In practice, Multimat.tv doesn't film anything itself. The platform pulls in the live YouTube feeds already published by organisers for each mat, and automatically assembles them into a single grid. You choose which mat to view fullscreen, mark your favourites, and keep an eye on the rest at a glance — all for free, with no account required.
Once a competition ends, organisers often archive their feeds as replays: those videos then appear in Multimat.tv's VOD Replays section, still organised mat by mat. To find out which competitions will be streamed ahead of time, check the Schedule.
Multimat.tv also offers a video coaching tool (free with an account) to analyse a match frame by frame and generate a PDF report for an athlete.
Frequently asked questions
What is a multiplex?
A multiplex is a single screen that shows several live video feeds at once — here, one feed per competition mat. Instead of picking a single mat to follow, you see every ongoing match at the same time.
Where do the video feeds come from?
Multimat.tv does not film any competition itself: the platform aggregates the live YouTube streams already published by organisers (such as the CFJJB) for each mat, and displays them side by side on a single page.
Is the multiplex free?
Yes, live streaming is entirely free and requires no account. A free account is only needed for the video coaching tool.
What happens after the competition?
Once the event is over, the mats streamed live may be archived by the organiser as a replay: they then appear in the VOD Replays section of Multimat.tv, still organised mat by mat.
How do I know which competitions will be streamed?
Multimat.tv's Schedule lists upcoming BJJ competitions in France and Europe. A "Watch live" button appears on events that will be (or already are) broadcast in multiplex.
